Second Best is not a bad thing
Randy got FOUR SILVER MEDALS in Austin today at the AAU District Track meet! (high jump, discus, shot put, and pole vault) That means he automatically qualifies for the regional meet in 3 weeks in San Antonio. Now he has to decide which event to scratch because he is pre-qualified for the javelin already and he can only enter 4 events at regionals. What a dilemma!
There is not a picture of pole vault, but he said that the officials' eyes got as big as dinner plates when he told them he needed a pole for a 200-pound pole-vaulter (guess it WAS a little hard to believe!).

Memories of Nanny Cat
"Some of the angels are in charge of helping heal sick animals and pets. And if they don't make the animals get better, they help the child get over it." - Vicki, 8
We will need several angels to help us get over the 15+ wonderful years that we shared with this sweet kitty. She loved "her" kids and being in the sunshine - and she loved to sleep in the strangest places:

TrainwreckTheTrackstar in Abilene
Corky called from McMurry yesterday after he FINALLY got to get in his first triple jump of the season. He got 2nd with a 45' 3" jump -- that is a foot more than what he jumped at State & Texas Relays in high school! Here is a link to the HyTek results. He also finished 7th in the long jump.

Tarleton State University Invitational Track Meet
Photos of Corky at the 2007 Tarleton State University Invitational Track Meet - his first meet as a freshman at UTPB!
Here he is in his warmups (so cute....awwwww)
Here are a couple of pictures of him warming up with his teammates.
Here he is with Coach Gray (in the white shirt) stretching before the long jump. She said that he did pretty well for his first meet as a freshman.

The last event for him was the 400 meters. He was second in his heat. He ran about a 50-something and still placed 8th overall.

Landon Science Fair Project
MFHS JV Soccer vs. Lake Travis
Randy's last game of the season
They lost to Lake Travis 4-1, but he did a great job at goalie!
For the varsity, it was senior night, and Shelli had to walk one of her "adopted" boys onto the field again this year.
!
The varsity tied 1-1 and when they went to the shoot-out there was some moments of excitement with the UIL rules -- Coach Nave walked the rulebook out to the field to clarify a call!

This is why we sent our son to college?
Corky boxes a VERY LARGE guy who we can only identify as "Bunga" in the dorms at UTPB.
